Ticketing Services Policies
THIRD PARTY TICKET SELLERS
Ogunquit Playhouse does not sell tickets through any channel other than tickets.ogunquitplayhouse.org. Online ticket purchases from third parties that are not the Ogunquit Playhouse are unable to be verified by the Playhouse Box Office and are therefore not guaranteed entry into the performance for which they are issued. The Box Office only releases tickets to the account owner or a verified party for whom the account owner of the ticket has given verbal permission to the Box Office to release tickets. Any other usage or distribution of the ticket will not guarantee entry to the performance.
UNABLE TO ATTEND
By calling the Box Office, with 24 hours or more advanced notice, guests may…
Exchange into a new date and time (exchange fees apply)
Request a gift certificate for the value of the tickets (minus any fees)
Donate tickets to The Playhouse as a tax-deductible gift
TICKET EXCHANGES
Exchanges are available by calling or stopping by the Box Office window during normal business hours (10:00a - 5:00p, 7 days a week). A $5 per ticket fee is applied for all exchanges, except when the original purchaser has an active annual Playhouse Membership.
REQUEST A GIFT CERTIFICATE
The value of a ticket order (minus fees) can be transferred to a Playhouse Gift Certificate that never expires. Only the patron who purchased the original tickets can initiate a Gift Certificate request.
TICKET DONATION
Tickets that cannot be used for their scheduled performance may be donated back to The Playhouse in exchange for a tax-deductible donation letter.
TICKET FEES
Each ticket sold will have a $5 Restoration Fee that goes towards supporting the structural maintenance of and improvements to The Playhouse and our campus properties; and a $5 Service Fee that supports our ticketing system and Box Office services. Service Fees are waived for Season Passes, Group Sales, and any tickets purchased at the Playhouse Box Office window. If you need to exchange the date or time of your existing tickets, there will be a $5 Exchange Fee per ticket. Exchange Fees are waived for patrons holding a current Playhouse Annual Membership at the $100 level and above. All fees are non-refundable.
ARRIVING FOR WRONG PERFORMANCE
Should a guest arrive on the wrong date or time for a performance, the Box Office team will do their best to seat them. This very well may not be in the seats they originally purchased, and it’s likely their party may be broken up and seated separately. However, there will be no additional charge assessed. If the guest refuses the team’s accommodation, they may be at risk of forfeiting the value of said tickets and having their vehicle remain in our parking lot until the end of the performance. This underscores the need to double and triple-check the details of your purchase when it’s made, opening the pre-performance email reminder when it arrives, and checking the date and time on your tickets before leaving for the theater. The Playhouse is not responsible for an error made on your behalf.
RESCHEDULED PERFORMANCES
The Playhouse reserves the right to change the date or time of a performance and will make every effort to contact guests affected by these changes. Changes made to any performance schedule will render null and void any tickets for the changed performance, and any receipts of purchase which included the original performance date or time. In the case of a rescheduling, the Box Office will accommodate guests through exchanges into a new performance or the issuance of a gift certificate.
PERFORMANCE CANCELLATION
In the rare instance Ogunquit Playhouse must cancel a performance, the Box Office team will make every effort possible to contact all guests (by phone and email) who purchased tickets to the performance. Bear in mind, if those tickets have been given or gifted to another party after purchase, we will have no way of reaching those people. In that case, it will be the responsibility of the purchasing party to pass along that information. Tickets for a canceled performance can be exchanged for a future performance or a gift certificate (with no expiration date) for the value of the purchase. Again, this exchange can only be facilitated by the party who made the original purchase.
ORDERING ERRORS
It is the responsibility of the guest to correctly read and interpret our online seating map. The Playhouse is not responsible for reseating any guests who have made a booking error. The Playhouse encourages guests to contact the Box Office prior to placing an online order, if they are unclear on any aspects of the theater.
PRICING CHANGES
Throughout the season, performance pricing is adjusted based on demand and supply. It is quite probable the seats you purchased before the season began will increase in price before the performance date. In such cases, should any changes to the date, time, or seat locations of your order need to be changed, for any reason, you will be responsible for the difference in the value of your order.
PURCHASERS OF UNVERIFIED TICKETS
Tickets received from third party resellers have the potential to be counterfeit. Guests who purchase tickets from third party resellers are entitled to a refund from that third party if the Box Office is unable to verify the guest’s name on the account to which the ticket order belongs, Ogunquit Playhouse cancels the performance, or the guest does not receive their ticket from the third party in time to attend the performance. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8, §1301.
LOST TICKETS
Guests who lose or misplace tickets should call the Box Office at 207.646.5511.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
We do not issue refunds, exchanges, or gift certificates for inclement weather on the day of a performance.
TRAFFIC DELAYS
We do not issue refunds, exchanges, or gift certificates due to traffic delays preventing on-time arrival.
LATE ARRIVALS
Late guests will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager at an appropriate break in the performance.
PHOTOGRAPHY AND RECORDING
Photo, video, and audio recording are expressly prohibited during any and all performances.
