The Ogunquit Playhouse is honored to be one of the first regional theatres in the U.S. to produce Billy Elliot! This amazing show features Elton John’s spectacular score and an inspirational story of a young boy’s struggle against the odds to make his dream come true. Set in a northern England mining town against the background of the 1984/1985 miners’ strike, audiences follow Billy’s journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family as well as the whole community. This moving theatrical experience is heightened by Elton John’s unforgettable music, sensational dance and a powerful storyline that will stay with you forever. It was honored with ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical and has toured the world since its 2005 London debut, delighting critics and capturing the hearts of millions of people worldwide.
